Curated planning currently covers 25 rivers across AR, MO. National reference gauges elsewhere on Eddy do not imply researched float recommendations.
list_riversList active curated rivers, their slugs, states, and page URLs. This is the authoritative coverage roster; national reference gauges do not imply curated float coverage.
get_riverGet a curated river’s description, difficulty and planning guidance with its canonical page URL.
get_conditionsGet observed gauge readings and Eddy ratings. Supply putIn to select a gauge for that stretch; otherwise the primary gauge is only a river reference. Stale/missing readings cannot establish current floatability. For a complete route use plan_float.
get_access_pointsList approved riverside places in downstream mile order. Only isFloatEndpoint=true entries may start or end a float. Public access does not establish that a ramp is open today.
get_hazardsList recorded active hazards. An empty record is not proof that a stretch is hazard-free; check get_river_alerts for official advisories.
plan_floatCalculate river miles and a vessel-specific time range between approved downstream launches. Returns anchor gauge and separate route assessment, contributing gauges, alerts, hazards, local weather, date-qualified outlook, nearby outfitters and an Eddy plan link. Rated future-trip durations use current readings, not forecasts. Unrated rivers can return a clearly labeled typical estimate without a floatability recommendation. Dams below the take-out are separate from in-route hazards. No booking or plan is saved.
Responses contain a status, data, warnings and a short safety note. Each live component names its source and available observation or issue time. Missing information stays missing.
MCP access is free: default limits of 600 requests per minute per network address, including up to 60 planning/search/drive requests. A shared service limit also protects expensive tools. Hosted clients may share network addresses. If Eddy returns 429, wait for the Retry-After interval.
REST endpoints have a separate, deployment-dependent x402 policy. Check the payment manifest; it does not apply to this MCP endpoint.
Operational monitoring records aggregate tool counts, latency and error outcomes when configured. Optional diagnostic logging adds the reported client software name; it does not establish a user identity. Tool arguments and response bodies are excluded from these logs. Network addresses are used for abuse limits. See our privacy policy.
get_gaugesList a bounded page of active curated gauges with batched latest readings. Optional river slug or USGS site ID filter. Ratings are specific to each river-gauge relationship; uncalibrated readings have no rating.
get_weatherGet current weather and forecast days at a put-in, or the river’s named weather reference point. Weather is not a river-flow prediction. Temperatures use Fahrenheit, wind mph and precipitation probability percent.
get_outlookGet an official NWS forecast interpreted using the selected gauge’s stage thresholds, or an explicit unavailable result. Optional gaugeId must belong to this river. Daily stages are maximums, not launch-time predictions, and do not predict float duration.
get_river_alertsCheck available NWS flood advisories and NPS park alerts with per-source status. Park alerts may apply outside the selected stretch. Never interpret an empty or failed lookup as proof that access is open.
get_servicesFind recorded outfitters, campgrounds and lodging for a river, optionally ordered by distance from an access-point slug or ID. Directory facts are not live shuttle, booking or operating availability.
get_drive_estimateEstimate road travel from take-out back to put-in. This is a road-distance/time estimate, not a shuttle booking or a claim that an outfitter has transport available. Unreliable endpoint coordinates or implausible routes withhold the estimate.
find_floatsFind up to three candidate floats on a curated river for a desired duration and vessel. Screens current stored conditions and diversifies a bounded shortlist across reaches. Returns compact options with gauge freshness, date-qualified outlooks and caution reasons; call plan_float for full hazards, weather and outfitters. A 20-second deadline can return partial results. Excludes unsuitable water and independent route blockers; required portages are cautions. Can return no suitable recommendation. For future dates, official ratings may be unavailable; duration remains based on current readings.
